Ayurveda categorizes all Skin diseases under ‘Kushta Roga’. In Ayurveda, Kushta Roga can be considered as ‘any disfigurement of the skin’. The disfigurement of skin can be presented as any discoloration on skin, a change from the normal complexion, texture, or tactile perception of skin. It also includes acnes, itching and burning sensations of skin, pain, papules with or without fluid discharge, etc.

Ayurveda explains the manifestation of various skin diseases depending on the degree of involvement of the three doshas – Vatha, Pitha and Kapha and their effect on the skin, blood, muscles, and the lymphatic system.
